Privacy policy
WowSeer is a fan-made database for World of Warcraft: Forever, run by Yushki in the United States. Yushki is responsible for the personal information described here. For privacy requests, contact [email protected].
1Kept in your browser
Saved builds, map plans, drafts and upload tokens use browser storage to provide the features you request. Once you sign in, saved talent builds are kept with your account. Sign-in and voting cookies, the sign-in display cache and a cookie for your explicitly chosen site version support those features. Optional display preferences, such as your faction, map view and tooltip settings, are only read or remembered after you allow them. They use local storage; the PvP faction also uses a cookie lasting up to 180 days. Local storage has no automatic expiry, but rejecting preferences deletes these display choices. Clearing all site data also removes your local saved work and signs you out.
3Your account
You sign in with Discord or Battle.net. A service sends us an ID for your account there and your name there; Discord may also send your picture. We do not ask those services for your email address or password. Older accounts may still have a Google identity or email address linked from when those sign-in methods were available. They can no longer be used to sign in; you can remove them in Settings after linking an available service. We keep the name you choose here, the portrait you show, when you joined and last visited, and the talent builds you save. A cookie keeps you signed in on each device for six months from your last visit, and the name of that device’s browser is kept with it. Signing in cannot work without that cookie, so it is set without asking. Your level, rank and achievements, and the XP and honor behind them, are worked out from what you do on the site and shown to everyone beside your name and on your page. If you sign in with Discord, the site may give your account in WowSeer’s Discord server roles for your rank, levels and achievements.
4Comments and screenshots
When you post a comment or a screenshot, your name and portrait, what you write and the pictures you add are shown to everyone on that page and on your own page, with the date. Anyone can vote a comment up. Signed in, your votes are kept with your account so that each person votes once; if you are not signed in, a cookie with a random ID, kept for a year, does that instead, and when you sign in the votes it counted become your account’s. The site never shows whose votes are whose. Reports you make, and corrections you send with Report a mistake (with your account, if you are signed in), go to WowSeer’s team alone. Put nothing in a post that you would not want public.
5Games
Playing a game keeps a random key for your seat in your browser, so a page you reload or come back to sits you back down; the name you type as a guest is kept there too. While a room is open it keeps its players’ names and guesses, and it closes at most a day after its last move. What you say in a room’s chat is shown to the others in the room and held only in the server’s memory while the room is open; it is never saved. What you say in General, on the games’ page, is shown to everyone on that page, under your account’s name or, as a guest, the name you keep there (or Guest and a number); only its last lines are held, in the server’s memory, and never saved. A room its host opens to anyone is listed on the games’ page with the names and portraits of those in it. When you finish a game signed in, its score and each round’s result are kept with your account, and the day’s board and the duel ladder show your name, portrait and score to everyone. A challenge you share shows your name and score, and the names and scores of everyone who plays it. Ranked duels keep your rating, wins and losses with your account. Guest names are only as private as the room or challenge they are shown in.
6Addon observations
Uploading with WowSeer Looter is optional. Uploaded files contain game observations such as loot, creatures and their services, what NPCs say, vendors, trainers, flight masters, quests and their text, reputation from kills, object and coarse encounter locations, item durability, auction buyout prices, Black Market offers and base character stats, plus session times, client build and character context such as faction, class and level. Your character's name and realm are replaced where NPCs say them; other names NPCs say are kept. The companion also reads existing game caches for creatures, objects, quests, readable page text and supported game hotfixes, with their build and language. Encryption keys, unsupported hotfix tables and personal cache files are excluded. From the game's combat log files it takes only which creatures used which spells, how often and for how much, and a creature's level and health; the players and pets named in those files are left out. Raw files stay private; validated findings can improve the public database. A random token groups uploads, and a keyed IP hash limits requests. Linking that token to your account credits accepted observations as public Honor on your profile. Personal reports require a separate choice in the companion. When enabled, normalized journeys and combat reports include routes, gear, activity, player names from combat logs and combat statistics. These reports are private until you create a share link, which you can revoke. Chat and raw personal log files are never uploaded. Reports can be downloaded or deleted from their pages and are removed when your account is deleted. Disconnecting blocks future uploads from that token while keeping earlier credit. Deleting uploaded observations removes their Honor. Keep your upload token for requesting deletion; browser uploads can be deleted on the manual upload page. Deleting local addon files does not delete server uploads. Deleting your website account detaches the upload identity; game observations remain subject to separate deletion.
7What the server sees
Like any website, the server that runs WowSeer receives your IP address and the addresses of the pages you ask for; a search is one of them. To hold each network to a few votes, corrections and sign-in codes an hour, a scrambled form of the IP address, used only to count them, is kept with each. The site is hosted by DigitalOcean.
8Google Analytics
If you allow analytics, we load Google Analytics to understand page visits and how people use WowSeer. Before that choice, or if you reject it, we do not load the Google tag or send analytics pings. Analytics uses identifiers in cookies named _ga and _ga_*, configured to last up to 180 days, and sends page visits, interactions, browser and device information to Google. Your IP address is visible to Google when your browser connects. We remove query strings and fragments from page addresses sent by our integration and exclude account, sign-in, upload and private report pages. Advertising storage, Google signals and ad personalization are disabled. Google processes information under its privacy policy. Your permission is the basis for this processing. You can withdraw it in ; this may reload the page to stop an already loaded tag.
9Why we keep information
We process account information, saved work and contributions to provide the service you request. Security records and abuse limits support our legitimate interest in keeping the site safe. Optional preferences and analytics rely on your consent. Account records remain while your account is open; the deletion options below explain what happens when you close it. Yushki operates in the United States, and our hosting, sign-in and analytics providers may process information outside your country. Contact us for information about the safeguards that apply to your data.
10Fonts
The public site’s typefaces are served by WowSeer. Your browser does not contact Google Fonts to load them.
11Other sites
Links to X, Discord, Blizzard and other sites take you to them, and their own policies apply there.
12Your choices
You can change or take down your own comments and screenshots on the page where you posted them. In Settings you can download everything we keep about you, or delete your account: your comments and screenshots then stay on the site without your name, corrections you sent stay with the team without it, and the rest is deleted as described above, including the separate deletion process for uploaded game observations. Depending on the law that applies, you may request access, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or restriction of processing, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent without affecting processing already carried out, and complain to your local data protection authority. Send requests to [email protected].
13Children
WowSeer is not meant for children under 13: an account is for people 13 or older, and we do not knowingly collect anything from younger children. If you think a child has posted here, tell us through Contact and we will take it down.
14Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
