A first name and a second name
With no realms, names are unique across a whole region, so every Forever character has two names, like a first name and a surname. Only the full pair has to be free: a first name someone else already uses can still be yours with a different second name. Blizzard’s example is a family, Asha, Thalen and Mira Brightvale.
The two parts are checked together, so splitting a restricted word across them won’t necessarily get it through. To show only your first name in the world, turn off My Secondary Name under Options, Nameplates; chat still shows both.
Reserving a name
Early Name Reservation runs from October 27 to November 3, 2026, first come, first served. It comes with the optional Skyborne Heroic Pack, Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection. Blizzard’s roadmap has character creation opening on October 27 too.
In the beta
On September 24 Blizzard began renaming beta characters whose names broke its naming policy, and took beta access away from some players whose names went far past the Code of Conduct. Customer Service won’t take appeals, and an automatic check of names is coming. Read the notice.
