How Fishing works in WoW Forever

· By WowSeer

In WoW Forever, you need a campfire for the best catches. If you place a Fishing Rack next to one, you can catch uncommon fish for an hour, including bloated fish that open into gems and jewelry. At 300 Fishing, a Fishing Hut lets you catch rare fish too.

Camp features

Fishing has three camp features of its own. To get their buffs, sit or craft next to them for a minute:

FeatureFishingWhat it gives
Fish Bowl208% to all stats
Fishing Rack140Uncommon catches for an hour, plus the Bowl's 8%
Fishing Hut300Rare catches for an hour, plus the Bowl's 8%

The Fish Bowl's 8% doesn't stack with Blessing of Kings, so it won't help if you already have Kings. The Rack and Hut still let you catch their fish, though. You can also place a Rack or Hut on top of a Bowl to replace it.

Once you reach 20 Fishing, the fishing trainer near your starting town teaches you the Fish Bowl. The Rack and Hut each need a blueprint first. The Bowl is made from a Raw Brilliant Smallfish and an Empty Vial. The Rack needs two Simple Wood, a Crystal Vial and two Raw Mithril Head Trout. The Hut needs five Simple Wood, two Bolt of Runecloth and one Seasonal Fish Steaks.

What's worth catching

Bloated fish

While the Rack's Uncommon Fishing buff is up, you can catch ten kinds of bloated fish, six from rivers and lakes and four from the coast:

The Fishing Extravaganza

Every Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. server time, the Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza fills the coast of Stranglethorn Vale with Speckled Tastyfish schools. The first anglers to bring Riggle Bassbait 40 Speckled Tastyfish for his quest, Master Angler, are the winners. He's in Booty Bay at 27.4, 76.8, so it's worth setting your Hearthstone there before it starts.

Winners get the Arcanite Fishing Pole, the best pole in the game at +35, and an Extravagant Extravaganza Coin. Jang, who stands next to Riggle, trades the coin for one of his prizes, including:

  • Bitter BaitlingA companion pet.
  • Master Angler's Fishing HatA cosmetic hat.
  • Empty Fish BucketA cosmetic off-hand.

Jang also takes spare Tastyfish for a Message in a Bottle or a bag of coins.

Three rare fish also turn up during the tournament, and you don't need to win to turn them in. Fishbot 5000, next to Riggle and Jang, trades each one for an item that adds 5 Fishing:

Food, poles and lures

Forever also added six dishes that raise your Fishing while you're Well Fed:

  • Rockscale Cod+12, from level 25

There are six fishing poles, from the basic one sold by vendors up to the +35 tournament prize:

  • Blump Family Fishing Pole+3. Alliance quest, from level 10.
  • Strong Fishing Pole+5. Sold by fishing suppliers, a few at a time.

The Blump pole comes from The Family and the Fishing Pole, where Gubber Blump in Auberdine asks for six Darkshore Grouper. The FC-5000 comes from Snapjaws, Mon!, where Katoom the Angler in the Hinterlands wants 15 Saltwater Snapjaws dead.

For lures, you'll need 50 Fishing for Nightcrawlers and 100 for the two best ones:

Reaching 300

Leveling Fishing works the same as in Classic. Any fishing trainer can take you to 150. For Expert, buy The Bass and You from Old Man Heming in Booty Bay. You'll need level 20 and 125 Fishing to read it.

For Artisan, find Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh at 58.4, 60.0. From level 35, with 225 Fishing, he'll give you Nat Pagle, Angler Extreme, which asks for one of each of these fish:
