City of Dalaran: Attunement and Quest Guide

Getting your Dalaran Sewer Key starts in Tarren Mill for Horde players. Alliance players can go directly to the Image of Archmage Modera.

Beta status — October 6, 2026: attunement is available, but the dungeon is awaiting a later beta update.

Key takeaways

• The key arrives when you accept Heart of Disruption. Its dungeon objective comes later. Keep the quest for your run.
• Horde attunement requires level 30. Dungeon quests require at least level 24; Blood in the Streets and the optional Alliance lead-in require 30.
• One keyholder can open the outside gate for the group. Stone Tokens and Bracers of Binding are optional, not attunement requirements.

Horde: from Tarren Mill to the sewer key

Set your Hearthstone in Tarren Mill for the return trips. Bring another player if possible for the crowded patrol area.

Start in Tarren Mill

• Take the two starting quests. Find Magus Wordeen Voidglare in the southeastern building, around 61.5, 21.0 in Hillsbrad Foothills. Accept Prison Break In and Key to the City.
• Pick up the optional quests along the way. Keeper Bel'varil offers Stone Tokens in the same building; completing it unlocks Bracers of Binding.

Visit Lordamere Internment Camp

• Recover the stolen artifacts. Travel west toward Hillsbrad Fields, then north to Lordamere Internment Camp, south of Dalaran. Kill the four traitors below and loot their artifacts for Prison Break In. Kegan is upstairs in the two-story building; the others are around the camp.
• Search the same building. Open the Warden's Footlocker and take the Grimy Key for Key to the City.
• Optional: Stone Tokens. Collect 10 Worn Stone Tokens from nearby Dalaran humanoids.

Clear Dalaran Patrols

• Return to Tarren Mill. Turn in both quests to Magus and accept Dalaran Patrols. Turn in Stone Tokens to Bel'varil for the optional Bracers of Binding.
• Clear the patrols east of Dalaran. Kill 6 Dalaran Summoners and complete the Elemental Slave objective in your quest tracker.
• Optional: Bracers of Binding. Collect 4 Bracers of Earth Binding from the Elemental Slaves.

Hug the mountain edge: city guards can teleport you away or kill you. Pull carefully and interrupt summons before extra mobs join the fight.

Collect your sewer key

• Get Blood in the Streets. Return to Magus, turn in Dalaran Patrols and accept Blood in the Streets.
• Find Modera beside Lordamere Lake. The Image of Archmage Modera is around 68.6, 45.2 on the Silverpine Forest map. Approach her, then hand in the quest.
• Receive your key. Accept Heart of Disruption to add the Dalaran Sewer Key to your keyring. Your attunement is complete.

Alliance: speak to Modera

• Optional lead-in: Emissary Jacques, at 48.3, 60.1 in Hillsbrad Foothills, offers An Alarming Request from level 30. You can also go straight to Modera.
• Collect the key: speak to Modera beside Lordamere Lake, near 68.6, 45.2 in Silverpine Forest, and accept Heart of Disruption. This quest lists a minimum level of 24.

After the dungeon: completing Heart of Disruption leads to Friend of the Kirin Tor, which sends you to Archmage Celindra in the Violet Citadel.

Finding the entrances

• Horde: use the outside sewer entrance at 8.8, 59.6 in Alterac Mountains, near Modera on the lakeshore. Approach from Silverpine Forest by swimming across Lordamere Lake, then open the gate with your key.
• Alliance: enter Dalaran and find the sewers near Cantrips & Crows, approximately 14.2, 61.1 in Alterac Mountains. Open the gate across the large pipe and follow it to the instance portal.
• Check your map: Modera's coordinates use Silverpine Forest; the entrance coordinates use Alterac Mountains.
