Taming

  1. Complete the level-10 pet quests, including feeding, revival and training.
  2. Stable your current companion; dismissing does not free its ownership slot.
  3. Choose an eligible beast at or below your level.
  4. Clear enemies, tame, check spellbook.

Training and loyalty

Learn fromAbilities
Pet TrainerGrowl, Great Stamina, Natural Armor, resistances
Tamed beastsMany active abilities and their ranks

Learn first, then teach:

  1. Stable your regular pet.
  2. Tame a beast knowing the desired rank.
  3. Let it cast the ability until you learn it.
  4. Confirm in Beast Training in the General spellbook tab before release.
  5. Retrieve your pet and teach it; family, level and points must qualify.
Training ruleReference
Total pointsPet level × (loyalty rank − 1)
Best Friend examplesLevel 30: 150; level 60: 300 total points
Active skillsFour; passives use points without taking active slots
GrowlZero Training Points
UpgradesCan skip ranks; previous spending is credited
Negative balanceExisting skills exceed a new tame's initial budget
ResetPet Trainer; resets have reportedly removed special speed passives

Loyalty: Rebellious → Unruly → Submissive → Dependable → Faithful → Best Friend. Build it through fighting and happiness. Signature skills remain family-specific. If learning stalls, check that other autocasts are not consuming all Focus.

Attack speed and damage

Autoattack DPS = average hit ÷ seconds between swings. Lower swing intervals mean faster attacks.

ExampleHitIntervalDPS
Slower1002 sec50
Faster, same hit1001 sec100
Faster, normalized hit501 sec50

Examples exclude misses, crits, armor and abilities.

MechanicEffect
NormalizationAdjusts hit damage for speed; need not equalize swing timers
Speed passivesModify a 2.0-second baseline for certain beasts
Trickster's Dance30% shorter interval: 2.0 → 1.4 seconds
Shell ShieldSlower swings, stronger individual hits
Dash / DiveMovement speed; no faster swings

Faster tames reportedly retain excess hit damage in the beta; intended balance is unconfirmed. Compare automatic attacks at equal level, happiness, training, gear and target conditions.
