The Skyborne: a new race that can join either faction

The Skyborne start on Zephras Isle, levels 1–12, and pick Horde or Alliance at character creation. Horde Skyborne can be Shaman; Alliance Skyborne can be Mages.

Two sides of one people

The Skyborne, or shen’dorei, descend from Highborne exiles who made a pact with the wind spirits of Skywall, one of the elemental planes. At character creation you choose which faction yours joins, and that choice sets the classes open to it:

  • Windshaper Skyborne join the Horde, keep to the elemental traditions and can be Druids, Hunters, Rogues, Shaman or Warriors.
  • High Order Skyborne join the Alliance, pursue their ancestors’ arcane learning and can be Druids, Hunters, Mages, Rogues or Warriors.

Skyborne Druids have shapeshift forms of their own.

Zephras Isle

Every Skyborne begins on Zephras Isle, a new starting zone for levels 1 to 12. The air spirits that protected the island have vanished, its old structures are failing and its people disagree about what to do next.

The race and the island come with the optional Skyborne Heroic Pack, and so with the Skyborne Epic Pack and Warcraft Forever Collection, which include it.

Racials

Both sides share three racials and differ in one:

  • Walk on Air (both): glide down through the air for 10 seconds.
  • Wind Blessed (both, passive): 1% more haste for melee, ranged attacks and spells.
  • Elemental Insight (both, passive): 5% more damage against Elementals.
  • Skysight (Windshaper): an Elemental Blessing that raises run speed by 10%.
  • Read Ley Line (High Order): tap a ley line for 100% more health and mana regeneration.

See how they compare with every other race’s on our racials page.

Looks

Each body type has ten faces, nine skin colors from sky blue to darker tones and more than twenty hair styles, with feathers, face and body tattoos, and a dance of their own. Blizzard’s announcementBlizzard · Meet the New Skyborneworldofwarcraft.blizzard.com lists every option.
